Workshop CasamanSun 2020: 4-6June at Ziguinchor

 FR

7th EDITION

Ziguinchor

From 4 to 6 of June 2020

MAIN TOPIC

«RENEWABLE ENERGIES

IN THE CONTEXT OF FUEL AND GAS DISCOVERY:

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENERGY POLICIES UPDATING FOR SENEGAL? »

C a s a m a n S u n 2 0 2 0

CONTEXT

The energy situation, which is of great concern in Africa, is evidenced by the absence, in most countries, of energy policies based on master plans for energy development in the short, medium and long terms. This situation is reflected, among other things, by a lack of energy activities integration into development plans and a lack of knowledge on energy resources potentialities and capacities. It is therefore necessary to initiate and develop scientific cooperation at national, sub-regional, regional and international scales to ensure that renewable energy issues are addressed by qualified human resources. These renewable energies are more than ever the alternative solution to ensure the energy transition based on sustainable development. It is in this context that Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor organizes the 7th edition of Casamansun Workshop.

GOALS

Casamansun2020 is an international scientific meeting aimed to:

Strengthen cooperation and relationship between researchers and professionals;

Identify scientific communities working in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development;

Create a dynamic of exchanges and sharing of knowledge and know-how between academics, local elected people, enterprises and professionals;

Sensitize students and educational communities on issues related to climate change and environmental degradation;

Provide concrete solutions to the problems faced by government authorities, local communities and groups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs);

Facilitate the professional integration of graduate students through meetings and exhibitions of professionals in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The three central themes of the conference are:

Topic 1

Renewable energies

1)How do I get to the conference?

You can fly to the international airport of Dakar (Air Senegal, Air France, Turkish airlines, Emirates…). Then from Dakar, take a boat or a plane to do Dakar-Ziguinchor. Be careful, unlike the plane, there is no boat every day. To come to the university, a shuttle bus will be set up between the Kadiandoumagne Hotel and the university. The timetables will be specified later. You can also take a taxi from your hotel. The rate will be 1000CFA max and the time of about 20minutes except trafic jam. At university, you should go to the department of Sciences and technology which is at the left when you enter the university.

2) What are the health risks?

We advise you to consult your nearest vaccination center to check the list of vaccines for Senegal (yellow fever, meningitis...) and for antimalarial treatment. We do not recommend tap water. The other drinks are OK.  The sun hits hard so sunscreen is highly recommended.

3)What is the climate at the conference? how to dress?

During the conference, the climate is rather warm. The conference rooms will be ventilated. So, you should get dressed to withstand the heat. In the evening it will be cooler. Watch out for mosquitoes. We recommend wearing long clothes.

4) Do I need a visa?

It depends on your nationality. If you need an invitation from the organizing/scientific committee, please contact us: casamansun@casamanscience.org

5)How do I pay for my registration?

The registration payment is made on site and a receipt will be given to you. If you need a certificate of attendance, please specify this when you register for the conference. The documents will be hand-delivered directly to you.

6)How do I book my hotel?

You can directly reach the hotels and book via their website. Generally, credit card payments are OK in big hotels. Other hotels will ask you to pay in cash. ATMs are available and easy-access in cities.

7)Is there WIFI access at the conference?

There will be a WIFI during the conference. Due to the large number of participants, the network tends to slowdown. You can buy a 4G SIM card (Orange, Free, Expresso) at the international airport.

8)What should I do if I have to cancel or are late?

In case of cancellation or delay, the scientific committee should be notified as soon as possible in order to update the calendar and reschedule your presentation/poster if necessary.
