The International Forestry Students’ Association is a non political, non religious and not for profit organization
that brings together forestry students from all over the world in a wide spectrum of activities.
Here are some news for conferences and opportunities for scholarschips.

1. Sponsorship for African students to join IFSAs Northern African Meeting, 21-26 May 2017 Ghana

The International Forestry Students‘ Association (IFSA) will be hosting the annual Northern Africa Regional Meeting (NARM) in Sunyani, Ghana, 21-26 May, 2017. The theme of the meeting, hosted at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), is ‘’Improving resilience to climate change and realizing sustainable use of land, forest, and water resources: the role of youth’’. This meeting aims to enhance youth participation and effectiveness in forest science, to motivate youth to adopt environmentally friendly practices, and to build and strengthen the capacity of youth through education and research to meet the challenges of the changing climate.  Click here to download the full announcement.

2. Applications for 2017 AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant: Closing on 10 May 2017

The African-German Network of Excellence in Science (AGNES) is pleased to announce that the call for applications for the next intake programme: the AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant for Junior Researchers is now open.

AGNES aims to strengthen the scientific capacity and networking in Africa through active co-operation of AGNES and potential AGNES members. The programme enables researchers studying towards a Masters or PhD from sub-Saharan African countries to spend research stays between 1 and 2 months at a university/research institute in other sub-Saharan African country.

If you know of anyone please inform them, also we urge you to please spread this information as widely as possible and inform anyone you might know who is interested in this great opportunity.

Interested junior scientists should submit their electronic applications directly to the AGNES Desk via email : agnes.admin@uct.ac.za by 10 May 2017. Please ensure that the application and all supporting documents reach the AGNES desk by midnight South African time.

4. IUFRO-SPDC Training Workshop on Systematic Review in Forest Science, South Africa. Deadline for submission, April 30, 2017.

The IUFRO Special Programme for Development of Capacities (SPDC) in collaboration with the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research (ICFR), South Africa and the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, is organizing a 3-day training workshop on systematic review in forest science, to be held as pre-conference event in connection with the 7th Forest Science Symposium “Research Underpinning the Sustainability of a Diverse Forestry Sector.”
